Gentle Nutrition Insights

Cottage cheese is often seen as a “diet food” …especially after trending on Tik Tok as such. But diet culture doesn’t “own” any specific food. In this recipe, cottage cheese adds protein and creaminess, making these pancakes more satisfying.

It’s okay to try new recipes… or to choose regular pancakes when you crave them. Experiment and take note of how the meals make you feel—do you feel satisfied, energized, and comfortably full? Does it keep you going for a few hours?

Gentle Nutrition Insights

Pasta is often unfairly demonized, but it doesn’t need to be avoided! Carbohydrates are a key part of a balanced meal. Eating just carbohydrates may leave you feeling hungry soon after, but pairing pasta with protein, healthy fats, and fiber-rich vegetables helps stabilize blood sugar and provides lasting energy. It’s all about creating a meal that you enjoy and makes you feel good.

Intuitive Eating Recipe #4: Caramelized Onion Dip

Intuitive Eating Recipe #4: Caramelized Onion Dip

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chives, fresh, chopped
  • 2 sweet onion, large, cut into slivers
  • 2 Tbs olive oil
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 ½ cups Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 black pepper, to taste

Directions

Prep
1. Slice onion and chop chives.

Make
1. Add olive oil and onion to a skillet and sauté over medium heat until the onion begins to soften. Continue sautéing until the onion begins to brown, adding water a tablespoon at a time to deglaze the pan. The sugar from the onion will naturally caramelize and turn brown, but you don’t want it to burn.
2. Once the onion has completely softened and is brown, remove from heat and set aside to cool.
3. Add sour cream, yogurt, garlic, powder, and pepper to a blender and process until creamy. Pour into a bowl and stir in cooled onions and chives.
4. Serve with chips, veggies, pita bread, crackers, pretzels, or anything else that sounds good!

Gentle Nutrition Insights

Nutrition is about addition, not restriction! Find plain raw veggies boring so, you avoid them? You don’t have to eat veggies plain if you don’t like them—adding a dip like this one boosts flavor and satisfaction.

Craving chips? Eating them by themselves might leave you unsatisfied or not feeling great afterward, but avoiding them will cause you to crave them more. Pairing chips with this protein-packed Greek yogurt dip and fiber-rich veggies helps balance your snack so it’s satisfying and nourishing.
